XELL Journal is not signed with an Apple or Microsoft certificate yet, so on first launch the system asks whether you trust the app. You do this once — after that the journal opens like any other app.
Mac
Download the build for your Mac
Apple Silicon for Macs with an M1 chip or later, Intel for the rest. To check: Apple menu → About This Mac → the “Chip” line (M1, M2…) or “Processor” (Intel).
Open the downloaded .dmg and drag the XELL Journal icon onto the Applications folder.

Permissions for screenshots
On the first screenshot macOS asks for Screen Recording — turn XELL Journal on in the list and restart the app. The “Auto” way (it switches TFs in TradingView itself) also needs Accessibility, in the same Privacy & Security pane.
New versions on Mac install the same way: the app tells you about a new version and opens this page; download the .dmg and replace the app in Applications. Your journal and screenshots stay.
Pick a folder (the default is fine) and click “Install”. XELL Journal appears in the Start menu and on the desktop.
Updates on Windows install themselves: the app downloads the new version in the background and offers “Restart and update”.
Where your data is
The journal and screenshots are on your computer: on Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/XELL Journal, on Windows in %APPDATA%\XELL Journal. Removing or reinstalling the app leaves them alone. Make a backup in Account → Data → Export to file.
